The Greek Community School of Ireland was founded in 2003. Its room is adjacent to the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation in Dublin and it is mainly funded by the Greek State and the Hellenic Community of Ireland.
A significant number of books have been acquired with donations from the Greek Embassy in Ireland as well as individual members of the community.
Classes and opening hours
The school’s teacher for the academic year 2008-2009 is Mr. Vaios Manolis and the school operates with five classes and 34 students in total. The classes are as below:
The first beginners class, with kids between 4 and 5 years old.
The second beginners class, with kids between 6 and 7 years old.
The third beginners class, with kids between 8 and 10 years old.
The advanced beginners class, with kids between 8 and 10 years old.
Finally, the adults class covers the need of the community’s members and friends who are willing to learn the Greek language.
The school is open every Saturday, from 9am to 5pm.
There are also two more classes:
The preschool class for kids around 3 years old, takes place every Tuesday from 10.30am to 12pm, with games and songs.
The second one takes place in Greystones, Co. Wicklow for kids between 8 and 12 years old, every Wednesday from 4pm to 5.30pm.
